What do you think for a cup of tea ?

April 10, 2011

Its slogan is : « Six minutes and twenty-three seconds from Lincoln Center and sightly to the left of Carregie Hall».

For over eighty years, New York’s defining cultural moments have taken place at Russian Tea Room. Ever since members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1927, it has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite-an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and businessmen planned their next deals and feted their friends’ latest Carnegie Hall performances. It’s depicted in a painting by Beryl Cook.

This is a great restaurant for a special occassion or if you just feel like treating yourself. To begin, the service was impeccable. No overbooking, no mob like you might see at some of the other popular restaurants. The restaurant was smaller than I expected, but the seating was perfectly arranged so no one bumps into your chair. The food is to die for! Overall, the best way I could describe it is gormet woodsy.

If you love tea this place is for you. Its specialty is tea, indeed when you look at the menu you can see a seltecion of tea to accompany your meal. So good taste !
